Armitage House was probably built around 1830 at the same time as Newcastle harbour was being developed. It appears on the 1834 Ordnance Survey Map but no formal records exist prior to it being sold by the Annesley Estate in 1949.

The house is comfortable and well proportioned. It was completely renovated in 2014 and provides 2 large double bedrooms, 3 twin bedrooms, a bathroom, 2 shower rooms and a downstairs cloakroom.

The large kitchen-dining room has an Aga while the sitting room has a wood burning stove. There is a quiet walled garden at the rear.

The house has a real sense of calm with wonderful sea views from the main rooms. There is character throughout - particularly the upper landing and the eaves rooms with their low sloped ceilings.
